Dorms, ugh.. While he loved being at the college, the worst part of the entire experience had to be the dorms. Four to a room. Grades disregarded. Sometimes co-ed. Always surrounded by idiots. The Norwegian sighed, hearing the key click in the lock before slowly pushing open the door. His bored expression didn't change at the scene of the empty room; however, he was quite pleased to see that he was the first to arrive. After all, that meant he had somewhat of a claim to the room and that there would be no surprises like last year, such as when he was lucky enough to be roomed with a group of immature Freshman who thought it would be hilarious to prank the next person to walk into a room.
Erik tiredly deposited his backpack onto one of the beds, allowing himself another sigh as he glanced at the wall clock. 8:15. Was he early? 'Hopefully.' To the blond, being early meant it would be a while before the others arrived.
Anti-social -- not at all. The European rather liked the company of others, but he was just extremely picky as to who. Unfortunately for him, ninety percent of the students who attended where just the type of people he didn't like to associate with: loud, boisterous, obnoxious, cocky, or just plain stupid. Erik moved to the kitchen-area before silently sitting down on one of the chairs. 'Might as well enjoy the silence..' Drumming his fingertips on the table top, the Norwegian actually contemplated taking another nap as he waited for his 'random' roommates; if he was lucky, it would be someone he knew. If not.. Suddenly, his gaze snapped to the moved toward the door, the sound of someone else entering the room loud and clear in the morning silence.
'Here goes nothing.' Sigh number three in a span of less than five minutes, and Erik grudgingly rose from his seat to greet the those he would be spending the next year with. (Just because they were likely to be loud and immature didn't mean he had to follow their example; a proper greeting was still necessary.) The college junior quietly crossed his arms over his chest and stood by the door, his apprehension hidden under a never-changing expression, and a slight glare.

Why she had opted out of getting her own apartment, Emi would never know. Well, she did know. But thinking about her flaky ex-friends and that nice apartment they had almost gotten would just wind up giving her a massive headache and a less-than-friendly disposition. Which really wouldn't be the best thing seeing as she was on her way to...meet the new strangers she'd be living with for the next year. That isn't to say that she wasn't, ah, excited. Rather, she was. Along with apprehensive. Extremely apprehensive. Her last two years in the dorms had been...well, she had enjoyed her roommates company. As for the rest of the people in the building? Not so much. Especially since the first years were always the worst.
God, they were annoying.
But maybe this year this dormitory would have less (read: no) first years and more...well, she was hoping for less idiots to deal with, really. Regardless of their age. Emi, however, knew how these dorms worked. They always found a way to screw people over. Whether it be by putting introverts in a room/floor full of obnoxious frat boys, by mixing up the years, or even by placing individuals of both sexes in the same room (much to the chagrin of their parents), these dorms always found a way to bite people in the ass.
Biting her lip, Emi adjusted the strap of her bag before tugging at her suitcase as she made her way towards her assigned room. Great, she was on the bottom floor. Which meant that she'd have to deal with possibly living below inconsiderate jerks. Again. Though...at least it meant that she'd have an easier time moving in and moving out, as the rest of her things were still inside her car.
Shifting slightly, she slid her room key out of her pocket and pushed the door open with a sigh...
Only to stop at the doorway.
Was...was that a boy in her room? Wait. Did they give her the wrong room assignment?
Brow furrowing, she bit her lip once more before looking at the number outside of the room. And, ah, her surname was written neatly on a small slip of paper taped below the room number. Great.
Looking back at the blond, Emi offered him a small, albeit strained smile. "Uhm, h-hello. I, uh, I'm Emiliana. Your roommate, by the looks of things. Ah, and you are...?"

Manners. Manners had to be remembered. The Norwegian figured that if they didn't end up getting along, at least this way he could still say he tried and blow the inconvenience off to the side; it wasn't like he really cared if his roommates liked him or not, as long as they didn't try any of their stupid pranks or get in his way.
'Wait.'
A girl? Erik couldn't keep a look of surprise from crossing his features as he saw the woman step into the room. She seemed to be clearly of Latin roots, not that he had a problem with that..
His main problem was her gender. Well, not necessarily a problem, but it was a little awkward, especially considering that the blond had never had to room with anyone of the opposite gender before, and from his experience with most of them, women were usually more bitter and conniving than men were. This was not going to be fun. Quickly regaining his composure, the junior shook his head to snap himself out of his thoughts before looking back at his new roommate, who had just introduced herself as Emiliana. "Erik," he replied, shifting a bit nervously and turning his gaze to the side. She seemed quiet enough though, since the woman didn't barge into the room screaming or laughing or doing something else idiotic..
There was a strange silence, before the Norwegian was hit with a sudden thought: what if more females were going to be in the dorm? One more he could probably deal with, but what if.. he ended up being the only male in the dorm? He frowned, running one of his hands through his hair and looking back at the Latin with slightly narrowed eyes, even though she had nothing to do with planning the rooming. (And she herself seemed a little surprised to find him there.) "So Miss Emiliana," he was sure he messed up her name somewhere, at least with the accent or something, "Have you met the others? No one else is here yet.." Were the others simply waiting in the hallway, or coming later on? -- he preferred the first option somehow.
Erik threw the door to the dormitory a wary glance, though as always his emotions weren't plainly seen, before moving through the room and settling onto the couch. 'If the rest are on their way, no use in going and hiding in the bedroom..'

Arriving at the school, even without faithfully arriving at his brother’s side, had been an exciting experience for Matthew Williams already. The strap on one of his bags had broken, sending most of his books scattering across the ground, the wheel on his base suitcase had broken and locked up (thus rendering the rolling quality null and void), the strap holding the other two suitcases to the base had loosened so everything clacked around as he drug his luggage…
…and Matthew hadn’t even made it inside yet.
The blonde pinched the bridge of his nose in frustration as he stopped outside of the dorms and heaved a heavy sigh out of his lungs. To think, this was one of his better days.
“Things really go to pieces when you’re on your own…” he mumbled quietly, shifting the bag that was slung over his shoulder a little higher, and cuddling the large stuffed bear that was in the book of his right arm a little closer. “M-Maybe I’m not supposed to do this…”
But he quickly shook his head while chiding himself. That was silly. Where had that thought even come from? Of course he was supposed to do this! Sure, he wasn’t rooming with his brother, and that was fine. He would be okay in the end, wouldn’t he? He’d just have to make friends with whomever we was rooming with… Speaking of that! The freshman shifted the bear in his arms again, looking down at the paper that he had arranged for it to hold. Room 103? The indigo eyes raised for a moment to give a critical look at the doors and numbers posted alongside of them.
Matthew continued to drag his travelcase, ignoring the dull scraping noise the bottom was emitting, sharp gaze watching the numbers scroll by. 103! He stopped here to give the list outside of the room a critical look, and his eyes instinctually trailed to the one’s alongside of them. 104? His heart leapt slightly when he could clearly see his brother’s name posted there as well. Ah! Well, they weren’t in the same room, but they were close to one another.
With budding confidence, Matthew pushed at the door (well, kind of nudged it with his shoulder and barely managed to grasp the handle to turn it in the process), and paused for a moment at voices. That one was male, but the other…? The blonde’s face felt as if it was on fire for a moment. The other was female!
’PLEASE just be someone visiting… I don’t know what I’d do if we were rooming with a girl!’ the voice in his head wailed slightly as he pushed the door completely open…
..and dread sunk into his stomach. Nope. That girl certainly had a suitcase. Which meant she lived here. Which meant that there was a girl in his dorm. Matthew swallowed hard and willed his nervous smile away from his features as he tugged his suitcase into the room, a bit harder than he meant to, and quietly nudged the door closed behind him.
“H-Hi… I’m one of the others,” Matthew tried to supply while awkwardly moving his full arms. “I’m Matthew Williams… A-Ah. Freshman, so please forgive me… You both look like you’re… Used to this place. I’m not. Yet.”
The strap on his luggage chose this moment to completely snap, like one had on the bag slung over his shoulder, sending the two tied to it cascading to the floor. Matt winced slightly at this and closed his eyes for a moment, mumbling a quiet little ”M-Maple…” under breath. He had to look a sight to these two… A boy almost 20 years old, cuddling an oversized stuffed white bear, with a bag having only one straining strap, and his suitcases all across the floor.
Not a day for first impressions.
’Why is it always me?’ Matthew groaned inwardly before forcing another weak smile to the two assembled. Maybe they would be gentle?
((Oh, my goodness! That's such a short response for me. D: -ashamed-))

"Call me 'Emi,'" she muttered after a moment, eyes locked on the ground before she glanced up once more. Well, he seemed....decent enough. Nice? Maybe, but it was too early to tell.. Though "standoffish" seemed to the better word to use, really. However, he (Erik, was it?) didn't seem like that bad of a guy. The cool demeaner probably had more to do with the fact that he probably didn't want to room with a girl. Perhaps, if they were fortunate enough, they'd wind up with two girls and two guys? Because, having three guys and one girl or three girls and one guy would...probably be a bit uncomfortable. And room transfers seemed like such a hassle, too.
Nudging her things further into the room, Emi moved away from the doorway before shaking her head at Erik's question. "No. There's no one else out in the hallway and I, ah, don't really know who else is rooming with us." She gave him a sheepish smile before her brow furrowed, glancing at the door as she heard the door rattle.
Stepping aside and accidentally brushing against the blond, Emi had to fight back a groan of defeat as she watched yet another blond male stumble into the room. Of course, this was after she realized that no, those suitcases were not in fact being dragged in on their own.
Lips parted to awkwardly greet the new arrival, Emi winced as she watched, and heard, his things fall loudly on the floor. Poor, poor, freshman.
Clearing her throat, Emi bent down to pick up one of the poor boy's suitcases as she gave him a small (and hopefully) reassuring smile as she stood back up, his suitcase in hand. "I'm, ah, Emiliana. But feel free to call Emi -" she paused, eyes landing on the large, plush polar bear Matthew was currently holding.
"T-That's so cute!" She cooed, eyes widening slightly before realizing what exactly she had said.
Oh. Real smooth, Emiliana.

Emi? He wasn't the kind for nicknames, especially with people just meant. Weren't such things meant for people like close friends or people who had known each other a while? Of course mentally, the Norwegian was scoffing to himself and telling himself he wouldn't do such a thing, but he only gave a nod to her quiet statement; he'd probably drop the Miss, but would more than likely end up still calling her Emiliana. At the brief contact, Erik quickly looked up, before deciding to brush it off. He was a bit annoyed the woman wasn't more careful (a silly reason of course), but knew that it would be childish to retort for such a thing. He tried not to look more disappointed as she said that she had seen no one else outside, and was tempted to look at the list of people posted on the door when suddenly the doorknob rattled and another figure made their way inside the dorm.
He raised an eyebrow, tempted to roll his eyes at the new-comer's blunder. Of course he had to be stuck in a room with a freshman; however, this one seemed more clumsy and nervous than loud and irritating. "No actually. I got here not long ago.. I'm Erik." 'Just Erik.' Nicknames or anything of the sort weren't expected, unlike a certain sophomore who also occupied the room.
So much for not being loud? The junior couldn't help but wince since slightly as the other blond's possessions ungracefully clattered to the floor. He looked from the cases on the floor back up at the freshman after a moment, but his attention was once again diverted to something else at Emiliana's outburst. Hiding a faint smirk, Erik quickly cleared his throat and adjusted himself on the chair before finally speaking again. "Yes, but unusual.." He wasn't making fun of the other in any way (well maybe just a little), but knowing how horrible it was to have a bad day like this, he decided to ease up on any potential teasing. 'What student carries a stuffed bear though?' Cute as it was, if anyone did bring something like that from home, it was usually hidden among luggage, not carried around for the world to see. When another silence overtook the group once more, he realized something: this meant he wouldn't be the only male in the dorm.
Thank goodness, really. It wasn't that dorms were sealed in cement (they nearly were though), but it took forever to even get the college staff to look at the paperwork, which, once again, took forever to fill out, with all sorts of questions and other jargon.. It was basically filling out the entire request for a dorm all over again --plus a section explaining why you needed the move. For Emilian'a sake though, he partially hoped that their last roommate was a girl. They were all mature adults, and it bugged Erik that he was even fretting over such a thing as gender, but awkward was still awkward no matter how old you became or how much you grew up.
